Job Details

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, founded in 1962, is the first and only cancer center solely focused on pediatric cancer. The mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for catastrophic pediatric diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion, or a family's ability to pay.

The Department of Biostatistics at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital invites applications for multiple faculty positions at the Instructor, Assistant or Associate Member (equivalent to Instructor, Assistant or Associate Professor) level,  depending on qualifications and experience.

The focus of the search is broad, and excellent candidates in any field of statistical research will be given full consideration. We are particularly interested in candidates with collaborative research interests in pediatric cancer and catastrophic diseases, including cancer survivorship, pediatric cancer clinical trials, infectious diseases, and basic science research. The expertise of artificial intelligence, deep learning in medicine, and real-world evidence would be a plus. The successful applicant must have a strong commitment to statistical collaborations with medical or basic science investigators, excellent communication skills, and an interest in pursuing independent methodological research. Compensation and benefits are very competitive and commensurate with experience.

The department currently consists of sixty-three faculty and staff: fourteen faculty, three post-doctoral fellows, thirty-one staff biostatisticians, seven computer scientists, and administrative staff.

Interested candidates should submit (1) a letter of interest that addresses the qualifications for this position, (2) a curriculum vitae including the names of three references, and; (3) a research statement directly online.  In addition, please arrange for three letters of reference to be sent via email to: Dr. Li Tang (Li.Tang@stjude.org).

Screening of applications will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.

Candidates must have a PhD in Biostatistics or Statistics and a record of peer-reviewed publications showing evidence of (for Instructor and Assistant Member, a potential of) productive methodological research.
