Overview

The Senior Manager of the High-Performance Computing Facility (HPCF) has responsibility for scientific computing and digital innovation under the leadership of Vice President of Research Information Services in support of St. Jude research. This high-profile position serves as an important advisor to the Vice President of Research Information Services team and will contribute to the formation and execution of the St. Jude scientific computing technology vision and strategy. The Senior Manager of HPCF position provides the opportunity to be at the intersection of computer science, basic science and translational research, and systems and computational engineering to ensure the St. Jude computational architecture keeps up with the rate of innovation in the nationally recognized research hospital.

 

Working with the St. Jude faculty, research staff, and institution’s senior leadership, the Senior Manager will have the opportunity to develop a strategic plan and design technology roadmaps for High Performance Computing and Storage Infrastructure, ML/AI and Computational Resources, Scientific Data Visualization Systems, and Cloud-based Research Computing Environments.

 

The Senior Manager will play a leading role in supporting incredible growth in St. Jude research and the new 6-year strategic plan for 2022-2027. Over the 6-year strategic plan period, St Jude will be investing heavily in laboratory-based, data driven research initiatives, such as Center for Excellence in Advance Microscopy, Center for Modeling Pediatric Diseases, Spatial Transcriptomics, Cryo-Electron Tomography, etc., that are heavily dependent on powerful scientific computing infrastructure and computational resources.


Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, data science, information science or related field is required
  • Master's degree is preferred

Minimum Experience

  • Ten (10) years of progressive IT experience with experience managing small/mid-size teams is required
  • Experience in creating and applying technologies to solve scientific computing problems is highly preferred
  • Experience with high-performance scientific computing is highly preferred
  • Experience leading complex projects/delivery in terms of resources, vendors and budgets is preferred
  • Experience managing teams in a supervisory/ leadership capacity is preferred
  • Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role is preferred
