Duties:

Under the supervision of the Youth Career Connections Program Manager, the Business Services Specialist will assist with the implementation of the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) to conduct outreach, job placement and job retention support services for youth participants. The Business Services Specialist will conduct assessments, provide initial and on-going career counseling and facilitate work readiness classes to program participants. The Business Services Specialist is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in social services, counseling, education, business, marketing, or related area. One (1) to three (3) years’ experience in workforce development, job placement, human resource development, or educational/vocational training.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of unemployed and low-income population served through program
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Well-developed organizational skills
  • Expert knowledge of on-line job searching tools and resources
  • Ability to obtain and/or have employer relationships for the purpose of finding employment opportunities for program participants
  • Ability to speak Spanish preferred
