Job Details

Schedule Information: Day and/or evening part time teaching positions, based on enrollment. Includes evening and weekend hours. 

Hours per Week: Vary upon the needs of the students/department.

Benefits: N/A

Duties of Position: Teach individual weekly lessons to non-credit students and children enrolled in the Community Music and Arts Center programs (30-minute, 45 minute, and 60-minute lessons).

Collaborate and/or teach group classes.

Organize and maintain a consistent teaching schedule.

Reach out to parents or students to arrange for lessons.

Prepare lesson plans.

Complete student assessments.

Participate in recruitment activities in and outside of the school.

Prepare students for performances and attend recitals.

Integrate technology into the delivery of instruction.

Must attend department, faculty, and Community Education meetings when requested.

Educational Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent 

Experience Requirements: Formal training and successful prior teaching experience are required.

Experience and passion for working with various age groups.

Ability to communicate ideas and concepts, and demonstrate playing techniques to students of different ages, backgrounds, and experience levels.

Must have a strong commitment to teaching and a genuine interest in the life-long musical development of individual students.

Must be responsive to inquiries about lessons and willing to call families to follow up, answer questions, and arrange for lessons.

Must be quick to respond to emails from the coordinator.

Must have a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, high standards for quality, and good judgment.

The ability to teach other instruments is a plus.
