Deadline: Mar 03, 2024 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

The Division of Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of pediatric solid tumors and the design and conduct of early phase biomarker driven clinical trials. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D or equivalent degree. Board-certified in pediatric hematology/oncology.

Teaching responsibilities may include didactic and clinical instruction of junior faculty, instructors, residents, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, medical students, and clinical research staff.

Clinical responsibilities may include inpatient and outpatient care focused on children, adolescents and young adults with solid tumors at the Philadelphia University City Hospital, and active involvement in fellowship training. The ideal candidate will have experience with precision medicine with a particular focus on management of patients enrolled on early phase clinical trials. At least two years of prior experience in these clinical roles after graduation from fellowship will be considered advantageous.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include expanding translational and clinical research efforts in developmental therapeutics and precision medicine, including designing, writing, and leading early phase clinical trials. Biomarker-defined, histology-agnostic research that crosses disease areas is also encouraged. The successful applicant will be academically productive, collaborative, and able to expand our already robust research enterprise. The successful candidate should have an established record of peer-reviewed scholarship and/ or extramural grant funding and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with sequencing, bioinformatics, and/or wet-laboratory based teams.

We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. The University of Pennsylvania is an EOE. Minorities/women/individuals with disabilities/protected veterans are encouraged to apply.

Vision

As engines of knowledge and new ideas, universities have the unique potential to define the future rather than be defined by it; to pioneer change rather than merely manage it.
