    This position involves administrative and teaching responsibilities, including providing classroom instruction in an array of undergraduate mathematics courses. Includes teaching day and evening classes. Additional responsibilities:

    Curriculum development and revision

    • Contribute to program review
    • Manifest a commitment to the mission of Mount Mary University
    • Effectively teach across the range of course offerings for math majors, non-math majors, education, nursing, and other health professional students, as well as introductory and upper-level courses
    • Possess a strong commitment to student-centered learning through inquiry-based pedagogies
    • Mentor students as a Faculty Advisor
    • Engage students in undergraduate research
    • Develop leadership skills within the department
    • Pursue extramural funding to support undergraduate research and pedagogical development
    • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to function in a team environment
    • Serve on faculty assembly and University committees
    • Provide service to the institution and the community
    • Participate in grant writing and acquisition of external funding
    • Engage in ongoing scholarship and professional activity (research, publications, presentations)
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Minimum Requirements:

      Doctorate in Mathematics ORDoctorate in Mathematics with a specialization in mathematics education ORDoctorate in Mathematics Education with a strong graduate mathematics component evidenced by at least 24 semester hours of graduate-level courses in pure or applied mathematics ORCandidates who are ABD will be considered if all other qualifications are met with distinction and there is a demonstration of progress toward degree completion.
    • Strong commitment to quality teaching in the liberal arts at the undergraduate level
    • Evidence of teaching effectiveness
    • Demonstrated skill in the application of technology for teaching and learning
    • Positive human relations, interpersonal and communication skills
    • Command of written and spoken English
    • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of professional and community groups

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with a broad range of innovative methods of instruction and assessment
    • Understanding of pre- K-14 mathematics curriculum and how ideas develop through the curriculum
