The Rockefeller University Press publishes three biomedical research journals: The Journal of Cell Biology, The Journal of Experimental Medicine, and The Journal of General Physiology. We are committed to identifying and publishing the highest quality research. All editorial decisions are made in conjunction with active academic scientists, and peer-review operations and pre-press production functions are carried out at the RUP offices.

Detailed Description

Reporting to the Institutional Sales Manager, the Development Coordinator supports the revenue of our three highly selective journals, providing customer and analytic support to maintain our customers and grow our revenue as we transition towards becoming an Open Access publisher. Manages general subscription inquiries, responding and directing them internally as appropriate. Raises quotes and invoices and liaises with acquisitions librarians to support our subscription business. Partners with agents and third parties to ensure clear communication of sales data throughout the renewal cycle, tracking subscriptions year-round, inputting renewal data into salesforce, and proactively engaging with potential cancellations. Works with the Director of Finance to track payments and liaises with the librarians on renewal status. Prepares regularly scheduled reports on article output to Read-and-Publish partners, license templates for subscribers, and Read-and-Publish partners. The Business Development Coordinator manages customer requests, including providing usage metrics and updating institution profiles. Providing analytic support, conceiving of, and executing analysis on business models, market forces, and emerging trends in academic research works with the Director of Communications to plan and execute marketing campaigns, including creating segmented lists to achieve specific goals. Responsible for responding to editorial questions about our OA program and Read-and-Publish outreach.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred. Must have an interest in sales, and a desire to make a difference in a fast-changing landscape of academic research, and data analysis. Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required. Must be a creative, and broad thinker. Prior publishing experience is a plus. Other visualization software and CRM systems programs such as Salesforce are a plus.
