The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is Connecticut's only public NCAA Division II program and a member of the Northeast 10 Conference. Consisting of 19 athletic teams, SCSU's outstanding program continually ranks among the top NCAA Division II programs in the nation, and also boasts a long record of dominance in the Northeast for both team and individual championships. The Owl's rich tradition of success consist of 83 Northeast 10 Conference Championships, over 1,200 All-Americans, 80 NCAA individual titles and 10 NCAA team championship titles.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include the coordination of health care to student-athletes under the supervision of the Team Physician for 19 highly competitive NCAA Div. II athletic programs. Further duties include event coverage scheduling, insurance claims management, record keeping, budgeting, supply/equipment requisitions, facilities management, and staff supervision. The Head Athletic Trainer will also serve as; Site Coordinator for the NCAA Drug Testing Program, liaison to the Athletic Training B.S./M.A.T. Accelerated program, Clinical Instructor for Athletic Training students, NCAA Health Care Administrator and a member of the Department of Athletics Administrative Leadership Team.

Qualifications

An earned master's degree required, NATABOC certified and five (S) years of appropriate professional level experience. Must hold a current Athletic Training license in the State of Connecticut (or eligible to receive). Commitment in following the letter and spirit of NCAA, Conference and University rules and regulations. Ideal candidate must demonstrate strong communication and written skills in order to work closely with a diverse population of student-athletes, coaches, strength and conditioning personnel as well as Campus Health Services.
