POSITION DESCRIPTION FOR
Adult CTE Instructor - Automotive
I. This position description shall apply to all certificated
personnel holding the position title of: Automotive
Instructor
II. Qualifications
1. Valid California Career Technical or Vocational Education
Teaching Credential with Authorization in the area of:
Transportation.
2. Minimum of three years of recent work experience in the
Automotive field.
3. All minimum requirements must be met on or before the
filling deadline.
III. Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Shall be directly responsible to his/her supervisor,
which shall be the Director, Adult Career and
Technical Education or such other administrator as is
designated by the Director, Adult Career and Technical
Education, unless otherwise specified in the District
Organization Chart.
B. Shall be responsible for:
1. Providing Competency based CTE instruction to
prepare students for entry-level employment in
the Automotive field or related career fields
2. Providing technical instruction and practical
experience in the Automotive career fields
3. Developing and maintaining industry contacts as
members of an Occupational Advisory Committee and
to assist students find jobs
4. Evaluating and keeping track of student
achievement, completion of class competencies and
job placement
5. Demonstrating sensitivity to the needs of an
ethnically diverse student population
6. Maintaining current syllabus, course outlines and
lesson plans
7. Keeping records, submitting reports, accounting

for property and performing obligations mandated
by law, board policy or administrative directive,
and such other reasonable and appropriate tasks
assigned by the supervisor.
