Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Campus Engagement and In-Event Promotions for Athletics & Recreation is responsible and accountable for the campus outreach to maximize overall student, faculty, staff, and alumni engagement with the Division of Athletics and Recreation. The position will enhance the overall event experience for a diverse audience, provide a true collegiate atmosphere, and deliver a customer service minded approach. The Assistant Director of Campus Engagement and In-event Promotions for Athletics & Recreation will be a liaison for campus partners and student organizations to drive attendance, participation and engagement at events, programs and services. The position will represent the Division on various committees to reach desirable outcomes across the University. The Assistant Director of Campus Engagement and In-event Promotions for Athletics & Recreation implements and assist with event day to include but not limited to: managing student team, sponsorship proper fulfillment, error free script development, ticket (revenue production) and special programming pertaining to DU Community.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Communication Skills - Verbal & Written: Sound use of grammar, style, publishing and editing skills. Ability to address inquiries and complaints. Address media and public requests to represent the Division.
  • Statistics & Mathematical Skills: Strong math skills, including the ability to understand, analyze and manage zero-based budget, and most importantly statistical data associated with various sports programs.
  • Digital Design Skills: Strong computer skills, must be able to use publishing software, create digital media guides, digital brochures and digital programs. Must be address changes and display quickly and concisely across digital platforms. Provide creative direction in collaboration with others.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Knowledge of sport rules, regulations and processes of University, Division, conference affiliation, and NCAA. Venue process and procedures. Recreation association guidelines associated with club sports or memberships.
  • Problem Solving - Solution Driven: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of requests furnished in written or oral form. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Technical awareness to trouble shoot when needed.
  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to operate work-related equipment; effectively communicate verbally with all constituents. The employee must be able to move about the office with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Management: Ability to staff events and assist in managing the units two internship positions or student employers.
  • Demonstrate Initiative: Ability to work independently, manage & multi-task multiple projects simultaneously, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Work Environment: The employee works in a standard office and reception environment as well as athletic press boxes and press rows. Unexpected interruptions occur frequently and the stress level varies. The noise level is moderate to loud. Venues vary with events as well.
  • Positive Attitude & Pioneer Spirit (demonstrate initiative, pave new paths forward, lead others).
  • Computer graphic design skills.
  • Knowledge of social media marketing.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, prioritize and make decisions in a fast pace setting.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field.
  • One year of experience in marketing/promotions/in-event/fan engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Sports marketing/graphic design experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign.
  • Ability to do to lead production sessions for in-game elements.
  • 3-5 years experience in managerial/leadership role.

Work Schedule
Varies. The position will be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Salary Grade Number
The salary grade for the position is 9.

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $52,000 - $60,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
