The Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream appointment in the Economic Analysis and Policy area. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and will commence July 1, 2023, or shortly thereafter.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related area by the time of the appointment or shortly thereafter, and have demonstrated excellence in research and teaching. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing strengths. Candidates area of research must be real estate or urban economics or related fields. Experience in teaching both undergraduate and graduate students in a management program is desirable.
The successful candidate is expected to pursue independent, innovative research at the highest international level, and to establish an outstanding and competitive research program leading to publications in internationally recognized top-ranked academic journals. For this position, excellence in research is evidenced primarily by the job-market paper and additional research papers or publications submitted with the application, a research statement, and strong letters of reference from referees of high standing. We seek individuals that have published in, or have works in progress meeting the standards of American Economic Review, Econometrica, Journal of Political Economy, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Review of Economic Studies, and/or journals of similar caliber and international standing. Further evidence of research excellence is provided by indication of participation in top conferences and presenting research at other highly ranked schools, as well as awards and accolades.
Applicants must demonstrate excellence in teaching, including a strong demonstrated ability to integrate both theory and practice; evidence of effective communication and presentation skills; a willingness to undertake graduate supervision; and a demonstrated mastery of his or her subject area. This will be demonstrated by the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application including a strong teaching statement, teaching evaluations or other evidence of superior performance in teaching-related activities submitted as part of the application, as well as strong endorsements toward teaching from referees and strong performance during the on-campus presentation for short-listed candidates. Other teaching-related activities can include performance as a teaching assistant or course instructor, experience leading successful workshops or seminars, student mentorship, or excellent conference presentations or posters.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
