Position Summary
Well-being & Health Promotion believes that students' health is an integral part of their academic success. A student's success can be derailed by poor choices that affect health and safety. Often alcohol and other drugs, reckless or dangerous behavior, and risky sexual behavior can lead to injuries, disease, legal trouble, and social circumstances that make continued academic progress difficult or impossible. The department serves a preventative role to allow students to make more healthful and less risky decisions by:
1. Helping create a healthy campus and community environment.
2. Assuring students know how and are motivated to make healthy decisions.
Well-being & Health Promotion provides SDSU students with tools to succeed by offering health education on: women's health, contraception, STI education, nutrition education, alcohol and other drugs education, hazing prevention, medical referral assistance, and Peer Health Education for the campus community. Well-being & Health Promotion maintains a commitment to collaborative and integrated efforts to achieve student health.
Under the general direction of the Assistant Dean of Students for Student Life, the Director will provide leadership in the provision of health promotion and education opportunities for students. The incumbent works closely with the Assistant Dean of Students for Student Life regarding mission, goals, programs, outreach services, development, budget, personnel, resource management assessment and overall direction of W&HP. The incumbent will also be responsible for organizing and conducting health educator programs and additional services as a resource to other departments of student health issues.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base) benefits-eligible, at-will position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
Education and Experience
Master's Degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in student services or related field, public/community health, public or business administration or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been acquired.
