Operation of athletic department's network Information Technology systems to support departmental mission.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Provide network design and planning for construction and renovation projects.
  • Design and plan access management and surveillance systems for construction and renovation
  • projects.
  • Maintain support-level knowledge of campus standard and department-specific software.
  • Manage annual budget for Information Technology operations.
  • Develop and monitor goals in the department’s Strategic Plan.
  • Provide first-level support for networking and connectivity.
  • Administer and operate Lenel card access and surveillance system.
  • Build department specific software loads for laptop and desktop PC’s.
  • Configure, install and support networked and local printers.
  • Develop and maintain PCI compliant ticket sales workstations.
  • Install and maintain Paciolan system software for client computers.
  • Provide front-line support for networked and local printers.
  • Provide business-day response to requests for support services.
  • Provide support for multiple operating systems including Windows, Mac OS, iOS, and Android. Maintain current knowledge of technology industry trends.
  • Recommend changes in hardware and software to increase overall effectiveness of computer operations.
  • Manage network computer systems, network and PC, to provide 100% uptime, data integrity and system use support.
  • Evaluate department requests for non-standard hardware and recommend.
  • Be available for emergency situations concerning the main system software or hardware or end users.
  • Provide connectivity support for staff mobile computing devices.
  • Request services for department or staff as needed.
  • Track and process for payment all invoices concerning telecommunications, on-campus and off campus, (i.e. AT&T) for data lines (computer), modems, and remote site equipment.
  • Serve as departmental liaison to WFU IS Department.
  • Maintain computer equipment inventory for Athletic Department.
  • Maintain environmental safety regulations for network hardware in compliance with maintenance contract, as well as maintain departmental compliance with software copyright laws.
  • Attend seminars, training classes, network meetings, to remain current with computer technology issues.
  • Serve as the Athletic Department liaison to third party technology vendors.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • AA/AS degree and 3+ years experience in PC hardware and software support. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
  • Support level knowledge of client operating systems including Windows, Mac OS, iOS and Android.
  • Knowledge of wired and wireless connectivity principles.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and identify technical problems.
  • Ability to work closely with other departments on diverse projects.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and physical network design.
  • Interpersonal communication skills.
  • Writing communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Able to research and problem solve issues independently.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record; must be insurable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree.
  • A+ certification.
  • Hardware support and repair experience.
