Job Summary

The School of Nursing seeks applicants for a tenure track faculty position beginning January 1, 2023. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the candidate’s area of expertise, maintaining scholarly productivity, and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels.

The College of Nursing and Health Sciences provide programs of study at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Bachelor of Science degree is granted in Health Science, Exercise Physiology, and Nursing. The graduate degrees include the Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP), and a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology. A minor in Nutrition is also provided. The Nursing program is accredited by the CCNE. Faculty members are actively involved in research, service, scholarship, and professional development. Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Associate Dean of the School of Nursing, the selected candidate will be responsible for teaching across the curriculum; maintaining scholarly productivity and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels.

Typical Allocation of Duties:

Teaching and scholarship - 80%
Teaches classes and conducts/presents research in the employee's academic discipline.

Service - 20%
Participates in service at the department, college, and university levels.

Required Qualifications
  • MSN in Nursing (FNP or PMHNP);
  • Actively pursuing terminal degree (PhD or DNP), with degree completion required by end of the third year of appointment;
  • Experienced in Advanced Practice Nursing;
  • Board Certified as an FPMHNP, FNP, ANP, or AGNP;
  • Unencumbered Georgia Registered Nursing License;
  • Must have one-year clinical experience;
  • Relocation to the Valdosta area;
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, as well as scholarship;
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
    PhD or DNP (required by appointment date for rank of Assistant Professor); Prior graduate nursing teaching experience; Dual certification as both an FNP and a PMHNP; A record of effective teaching appropriate to the applicant’s career stage; Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting; A record of mentoring students of diverse backgrounds.

Commensurate with experience

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. Position May Require Credit Check (if using P-Card, working with Cash, etc.).

Position Requires completion of VSU's Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free Workplace, Anti-Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest/ Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker's Compensation.
