Job Details

Wells College seeks applicants for the full-time 10-month position of Head Coach for Men’s Lacrosse. As a Head Coach, the successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the Men’s Lacrosse programs, including, but not limited to: teaching and refining skills and techniques, preparation of daily practices and season plans, scheduling games and planning travel, motivating and monitoring teams’ academic success, and ordering supplies and uniforms.  A primary function of the position will be the recruitment and retention of qualified student-athletes. Secondary responsibilities, based on experience, may include but are not limited to: game management for Fall and/or Winter sports; strength and conditioning; equipment room management; recreational sports programming; Sports Information support, and/or teaching Physical Education activities classes.  Additional teaching opportunities may exist in courses for Sports Management, Gender Issues and Women in Sports and/or Wellness Engagement and Lifelong Learning.  The successful candidate will actively ensure compliance with all NCAA, Wells College, and United East/AMCC rules and regulations.  Regular 10-month schedule: Aug 1 – May 31.

Candidates for the position should demonstrate a commitment to the mission of the College, the athletic program, the development of character in student-athletes and the academic program.  The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and coaching skills; will be highly motivated and organized; possess knowledge and understanding of NCAA Division III rules and regulations.   A bachelor’s degree is required.  Master’s Degree preferred. College playing and/or coaching experience preferred. National Certification in Strength and Conditioning, First Aid/CPR/AED certification, and knowledge of recruiting software programs (e.g., Slate, Front Rush) and valid drivers’ license also preferred.
