Job Details
Reporting to the Vice President and Dean of Enrollment Management, this position is charged with enhancing the process-driven approach of the division through strategic project management. The Director, in collaboration with key internal and external partners, establishes, maintains, evaluates, and revises best practices in the execution of operational processes of the division, thereby supporting the ambitious vision of the institution to be the first choice for prospective students.
The Director leads a motivated operational unit striving to support the college’s enrollment efforts through the application of highly functional processes and enhanced utilization of technology. Manages a team of three, with direct supervision of the Slate Administrator. The Director works collaboratively with senior leadership to support the day-to-day operations of the division while harnessing enrollment best practices efforts to inform the strategic direction of the enrollment division. This includes streamlining of practices and development of policies/processes designed to increase efficiency of staff and maximize use of technology.
ResponsibilitiesThe Director will be confident and team-oriented, with aspirations for campus-wide involvement and impact. Will act as a resource for direct reports and campus partners alike and exhibit professionalism in every interaction. The Director will:
- Supervise the daily processes for enrollment operations
- Responsible for quality control and oversight of all functions of the enrollment operations processes
- Hire, mentor and evaluate staff members in Enrollment Operations department
- With the Director of Admission and Enrollment Operations team members, manage the online application reading process, ensuring accurate processing of applications, and supporting documents received
- Oversee the import, data entry, and review process of all applications for admission
- Manages scanning and uploading of all electronic documents received by the Admissions Office
- Manages queries to assist with the completion and review process of applications based on status and type of application
- Coordinate the daily review of application checklists based on these queries to account for all materials received and to move completed applications to 1st read bins in a timely manner
- Coordinates timeline and logistics of the admission file review process, assessing and addressing gaps in technology needs, reader progress, and applicant/admit pool metrics, providing substantive information needed for efficient Admission Committee review
- Responsible for reconciling decisions as they move through the online reader bin system, printing all first-year decision letters based on admission decision deadlines and overseeing the preparation of the admit packets with the correct scholarship letter and appropriate enclosures
- Develop, and improve the read process timelines and logistics in collaboration with the Director of Admission, Director of Enrollment Marketing, and the Director of Analytics
- Assess and address gaps in technology needs, reader progress, and applicant/admit pool metrics, providing substantive information needed for efficient Admission Committee review
- Possess overall knowledge and understanding of the application and data entry/review processes within Slate
- Work in collaboration with the Director of Admission in managing the training of new Admission staff in Slate
- Actively explore best practices and innovative approaches regarding the use of Slate for maximized enrollment growth in collaboration with the Slate Administrator
- Maintain accounting for departmental budget. Review monthly budget statements and reconcile accounts
- Collaborate and manage select, third-party strategic partners in support of enrollment programs and initiatives
- Oversee the effective operations of the Enrollment Division, including, but not limited to, systems maintenance, decision coding, and confidential care of student records
- Engage in long-term planning and evaluation, as well as resource assessment and budgeting procedures
- Partner with the assigned Associate Director of Admission in the processing of the enrollment division’s engaged enrollment strategies
- Creation of policies and procedures for the division
- Supports all admission events through delegation and follow-up with the admission team members responsible for each event
Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of progressively responsible admission, higher education, or related experience

- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to participate in significant travel
- Ability to stand in one place for significant amounts of time and ability to lift boxes up to 40 pounds
Additionally, the desired candidate will have previous supervisory experience, with a keen understanding of the transparent establishment of expectations and accountability, and at least five years of progressively responsible experience in project management, research, and/or a higher education environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree and 5+ years of admission experience at a regionally accredited, liberal arts institution
- Experience with data and reporting, and a desire to provide enrollment research support
