The Department of Geography at The Ohio State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in weather/climate data analytics at the Assistant Professor rank. We seek a candidate whose research focuses on meteorology or climatology and who uses observational data from field measurements, sensor networks or data from remote platforms (aircraft, drones, or satellite), such as multispectral imagery, LiDAR or radar. Expertise in machine learning, artificial intelligence or statistical data analysis is also desirable. This position will enhance existing strengths in the Department of Geography by bridging multiple subfields in the department (social, physical and geospatial). We plan to enhance the synergy between our Atmospheric Science and GIScience undergraduate and graduate programs by hiring an individual with expertise spanning multiple areas of scholarship. The successful candidate will be expected to attract external funding and have a strong commitment to teaching and student mentorship at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. We seek applicants with a demonstrated commitment to facilitating diversity, equity and inclusion in the classroom and in their research programs. Outstanding opportunities for collaboration exist with other campus centers and units, including the Translational Data Analytics Institute, Sustainability Institute and the Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center.
