Job Description UMKC is looking for a creative, collaborative marketing strategist who will be responsible for organizing, building and leading a social influencer marketing strategy that coordinates with overall university marketing. This position will report to the Chief Marketing Strategist in the division of Strategic Marketing and Communications (MCom) and will be key to delivering student generated content that is relevant and engaging to capture the attention of prospective and current students. It will serve in direct support of the university's recruitment efforts in Admissions and Enrollment Management and also will support key student retention efforts in partnership with Student Affairs and Student Success. Ensuring the student generated content is on brand and message, while allowing for student freedom and expression will be an important deliverable.

In addition, this individual will coordinate closely with MCom colleagues to integrate student generated content across owned and earned marketing and communications channels.

The ideal candidate will be fluent in social media and will have some experience in brand and marketing strategy development; working knowledge of online and digital marketing; solid understanding of marketing principles; demonstrated competency in project management and coordinating student employees; and understanding of strategic communications. In addition, the position will require excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines and respond with urgency to new ideas and initiatives.

The job requires someone who can:

    Demonstrate strong people and management skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of people and build positive relationships and consistent communication.Build effective relationships with students and campus colleagues.Drive the planning and execution of the social influencer marketing tactics.Work closely with MCom colleagues on strategic marketing and communications planning.Work effectively with vendor partners as needed.Effectively provide support and direction for online and digital marketing efforts.Serve as the brand manager to ensure all work maintains messaging and visual identity consistent with UMKC brand strategy.Demonstrate ability to develop creative ideas in multiple formats and quickly execute and manage content development in those areas to a high level of quality.
Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
    Passionate, collaborative, highly creative, out of the box thinker, problem solver.Knowledge of CRM and digital strategies is a must. 3 - 5 years of experience is preferredAbility to manage multiple projects at once, prioritize accordingly, meet deadlines and remain adaptable in a changing environment.Must have proven ability to work exceptionally well with a variety of people and support client’s needs.Experience in writing and editing for print, web and social media.Understanding of AP style and proficient in Microsoft Office.Proven track record of producing high quality digital media content.Ability to proactively identify communications and marketing opportunities and develop supporting creative. Ability to analyze results, data collection and make adjustments to tactics will be expected of this position in an iterative fashion with monthly reports to key marketing personnel.

Up to $50,000, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
