The mission of UCCS Dining and Hospitality Services (DHS) is to NOURISH and ENGAGE the campus community.

DHS is comprised of two residential dining facilities, a retail café, one campus pub, four coffee locations, and full-service catering. DHS is an award-winning dining program that serves approximately 1 million meals per year across all operations.

The Retail Business Development Manager coordinates insight, advocacy, and growth efforts with the Auxiliary Services departments. Including Dining and Hospitality Services, the Bookstore, Vending, and the Farm. The Retail Business Development Manager works with Auxiliary Services Leadership to create unique and storytelling outreach strategies to support strategic initiatives and build community on campus. This position works closely with the Director and Assistant Directors of Dining, the Director of Retail Services, the Farm Manager to ensure the knowledge of and success of all Auxiliary Services experiences and growth.

Job Duties:
  • General management, storytelling, and development of the Auxiliary services branding
  • Tabling orientations, providing information to 1st year students regarding the offerings of the Auxiliary services departments
  • Creating and maintaining an image for the Auxiliary departmentsVisual merchandising through planograms
  • Oversee Auxiliary Services website functionality and content in partnership with UCCS Web Services staff
  • Promotion of Catering services and highlighting benefits of unique in-house value proposition
  • Facilitation in conjunction with Event Services and the UCCS Catering Department to ensure accurate and timely arrangements of production, delivery, setup, and provision details
  • Create and manage project calendars
  • Conduct market research to find information regarding consumer requirements, habits, and trends
  • Brainstorm and develop ideas for creative programmatic campaigns
  • Liaise with external vendors to execute promotional events and campaigns
  • Plan and execute initiatives to reach the target audience through appropriate channels (social media, e-mail, TV etc.)
  • Assist in analyzing consumer data (campaign results, conversion rates, traffic etc.) to help shape future marketing strategies
  • Meal plan engineering support
  • Undertake individual tasks of the Auxiliary strategic growth plan
  • Operational support within Catering or other units as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Job Competencies:
  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge in creating and implementing on-brand advertising, marketing collateral, and all other forms of communications
  • Demonstrated ability to work with the Microsoft Office and Adobe Service Suites
  • Demonstrated ability to implement strategic communication and marketing plans to reach organizational goals
  • Thorough understanding of marketing elements (including traditional and digital marketing such as SEO/social media etc.) and market research methods
  • Demonstrable experience in marketing data analytics and tools
  • Solid computer skills, including MS Office, marketing software (Adobe Creative Suite & CRM) and applications (Web analytics, Google AdWords etc.)
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and web development tools (e.g., Dreamweaver) desired
  • Working knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) and content management system (CMS) platforms
  • Dependable, conscientious, thorough, accurate, and reliable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills

    This position has been determined to be ineligible for overtime (exempt) under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

    What We Offer:

    Salary: $42,531 - $54,879

    The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

    Qualifications
    Minimum Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • 2 or more years of working experience in retail and/or a marketing environment

  • Prefered Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in management, marketing, or a related field
  • Experience working in a higher education environment

  • Physical Requirements:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move. Employee is occasionally required to have moderate bending, crouching, reaching, handling, fingering, moderate energy requirements, tasting/smelling, depth perception, color vision and good field of vision. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and constantly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
