Responsibilities The EHS Bilingual Home Visitor provides targeted case management services and educational parent coaching, through intensive in-home visitation with both English and Spanish-speaking families and their children. This position assists families with navigating multiple systems of care and developing their parenting skills.

Manages weekly home visits and provides education and family services to women, infants, and toddlers that have been determined to have special needs (i.e., English language learning, developmentally delayed parents, early intervention, special health care needs).

Provides prenatal education for expectant families using the Partners for Healthy Baby curriculum to promote healthy birth outcomes and ensure linkages with pre and postnatal care providers. Sessions will be based upon assessment of child and family needs, utilizing Early Head Start protocols, policies, and procedures.

Develops written child and family case documentation including home visit notes, child assessment results, child and family goals progress, and parent-child interactions through timely entries into the program database and quarterly reporting.

Plans and facilitates Group Socialization experiences twice monthly for children and families served in the home, including encouragement of group participation from families.

Assists in arranging regular medical appointments and gathering medical documentation for families enrolled in the program.

Provides outreach and recruits Spanish -speaking families for program participation. Translates program publications and other written resources into Spanish as needed. Provides interpretation at program events as needed.

Conducts accurate screening and ongoing assessment of young children's developmental utilizing the Ages and Stages Developmental Questionnaire (ASQ) and the Early Learning Accomplishment Profile (ELAP).

Provides referrals and assists families in identifying and utilizing community resources, while encouraging and promoting each family's empowerment and self-sufficiency. Assists program in linking with resources specific to Spanish speaking families.

NOTE: During the Coronavirus pandemic, services will be provided remotely to families and all in person program events are cancelled. A program-wide transition plan will provide options for no contact and low contact community work until it is safe to resume regular in-home services and group events.

Qualifications Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma/equivalency and six years of experience.

(Note: or a combination of post-high school education and experience equal to six years.)

    Knowledge and experience in child development and early childhood education.Skilled in communicating with and motivating people. Knowledge of community resources and the skills to link families with appropriate agencies and services.Excellent organization, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.Based on the nature of the position, must have a reliable vehicle to perform job functions; proof of a valid FL or GA driver's license and auto insurance or ability to obtain prior to hire. This position requires post-offer pre-employment physical examination including a TB test.

Preferred

Experience in home visiting and Early Head Start/Head Start or other early childhood or family services programs; experience working with low-income families; and knowledge of the Gadsden County community.

Ability to work with children/families of various cultures from low-income backgrounds with a respectful, non-judgmental approach; collaborate with multiple community service providers; problem solve and handle crisis; and to work well, both independently and as part of a team.

Knowledge of the principles of child health, safety, and nutrition; adult learning principles; and family dynamics.

Ability to speak and write the Spanish language.

This position is time-limited based on soft money funding, with renewal contingent upon available funds and the needs of the University.
