Job Details
Kutztown University is accepting applications to fill two (2) University Registered Nurse (9-month) positions for the upcoming academic year. The University Nurse is responsible for providing professional nursing services to all eligible students and works in collaboration with other Student Affairs professionals and Academic Departments to enhance students’ experience, success, and retention by promoting health and wellness.
The University Nurse is responsible for providing professional nursing services in the University for students with injury, illness, and prevention needs. Work efforts are primarily directed toward the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of the physical and mental health of our students; providing nursing assessment and treatment in accordance with established protocols and standards of care; and guiding students to make informed decisions about their health. The University Nurse is also responsible to function as a team member and is expected to utilize their experience and skill in collaboration with their colleagues. The University Nurse often will need to be autonomous and is required to possess the clinical experience to assess, evaluate, treat or refer to a provider as needed.
Compensation Package: $43,530.00 (9-months), plus comprehensive benefits, including:
- Current, unrestricted Pennsylvania professional registered nursing license.
- BSN or diploma in nursing.
- BLS CPR & AED certification
- Minimum of three (3) years professional nursing experience in a college health center, emergency, ambulatory care, behavioral health, acute or primary care setting.
- Possess critical thinking skills, work autonomously in accordance with scope of practice, and ability to make sound judgments based upon current nursing standards and ethics
- Demonstrate a commitment to provide nonjudgmental, compassionate care to a diverse student population in an equitable and inclusive manner.
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have interpersonal skills to courteously engage with students and staff members to effectively achieve desired goals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the medical needs of college-aged students.
- Experience with phlebotomy, injections, TB skin testing, collection of body fluid samples, and preparation of specimens for testing and/or transportation to affiliate laboratory.
- Prior experience working with adolescent/young adult population.
