Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Economics department occasionally needs temporary, part-time instructors. These Instructors/Assistant professors teach sections of Principles of Macroeconomics and/or Microeconomics. Other courses may be available based on departmental need and instructor qualifications.
The Instructor/Assistant professors hold a minimum of two office hours per week on no fewer than two different days. They prepare course outline(s) and syllabus/syllabi, develop course and lesson plans, engage in the selection of text books and other teaching aids necessary to the instruction of the course. Teach pertinent course subject using lectures, demonstrations, class discussion and other appropriate modes of educational delivery. Lead and monitor classroom instruction that promotes an educational and learning process keeping with faculty academic freedom and responsibility. Foster student development. Participate in co-curricular activities such as department colloquia and honors seminars. Maintain equipment. Serve as academic advisor to students and be available to faculty and students for consultation for questions in area of expertise.

Relevant accomplishments in teaching and scholarship will influence appointment rank.

In addition to teaching, there is an expectation for scholarship and service commensurate with the assignment.

Required Qualifications:

Ab.D. in Economics. Evidence of college teaching experience and effectiveness. Successful on-campus interview and teaching demonstration. Commitment to equity and diversity. Three background checks: Criminal Background Check (Act 34); Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151); and FBI Federal Criminal History-Fingerprinting (Act 114).

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Economics. Relevant accomplishments in teaching and scholarship will influence appointment rank.

Faculty need to be able to prepare course outline and syllabus, develop course and lesson plans, engage in the selection of textbook and other teaching aids necessary to the instruction of the courses.
