The University of Tennessee Foundation is seeking a Director of Alumni Programs and Engagement to serve on the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture (UTIA) Advancement Team in Knoxville. Reporting to the UTIA Vice Chancellor of Institutional Advancement, the Director is responsible for the implementation of programs, projects and events that strategically engage alumni and future alumni of the Herbert College of Agriculture and the College of Veterinary Medicine, as well as friends and donors of all units within the UT Institute of Agriculture.

Position Responsibilities:

    Work collaboratively with advancement teammates and institute-wide partners to create, deliver, and sustain a successful long-range strategic plan for engagement of Herbert College of Agriculture and College of Veterinary Medicine alumni.In coordination with the Director of Communications for Advancement, facilitate UTIA alumni communications such as social media marketing, e-newsletters, and website content management.Work in collaboration with the UT Alumni Association and the UT Knoxville Office of Alumni Affairs to enhance the overall alumni experience of UT graduates.Cultivate relationships with alumni and friends to develop a pipeline of donor prospects for UTIA.Plan, manage, and execute alumni and constituent events with oversight of budgets, logistics, venues, staff (working event), and students. Work closely with appropriate advancement teammates to develop and maintain programming that brings together students with alumni and friends, and to identify alumni, friends, and industry partners for networking, internships, and career opportunities.Evaluate strategies that will improve and enhance UTIA events to ensure a positive experience for attendees, including alumni, donors, prospects, and other constituencies.Work with the UTIA Retirees Association to best engage this group with the UTIA mission.

This position is located in Knoxville, TN which sits at the base of the Great Smoky Mountains. Qualifications
Qualifications: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree.  A master’s degree is preferred. A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required due to travel responsibilities of the position. UTFI reserves the right to consider all appropriate circumstances.  In general, any significant driving offense less than 12 months old will eliminate the application from consideration for the position. Must be able to work nights and weekends, some overnight travel required.

Experience:  The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s and five years of program and/or experience in marketing or communications. Five years of experience in volunteer management, fundraising, budget preparation and analysis, and/or program development is required. Three years of experience as listed is acceptable with a master’s degree.

Job Skills:  Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, perform in a fast-paced environment, be team oriented, is a self-starter that is able to work independently, pay strong attention to details, and possess the ability to build relationships are needed skills.
