Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Director, Financial Aid Technology Systems will be responsible for the overall direction of the Financial Aid (FA) Technology Systems area. This includes, but is not limited to, oversight and supervision of the area’s professional staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Responsible for technical oversight to the FA office as it relates to student information systems and other software productsBuilds SQL RoutinesResponsible for configuration, operation and maintenance of all technology platforms to administer financial aidUses PeopleSoft Query Manager to retrieve data from Oracle database Acts as the primary liaison between the Financial Aid Department and Office of Technical Support, works closely with appropriate OTS programmers, cooperates with the OTS department, partners with other cross-departmental and cross-divisional functional staff on initiatives for system and data integration and upgradesProvides product support of tested PeopleSoft Campus Solutions Financial Aid modules; tests releases of bundle updatesCreates and tests queries and reportsPresents data findings to Lone Star managementMaintains current knowledge of federal, state, and institutional regulations and guidelines that may impact financial aid processingAssists Business Analysts to investigate, implement and document new business process flows for functionality in compliance with federal and state regulations, institutional policies and departmental standard operating proceduresServes on appropriate committees and work teams for PeopleSoft implementation and data integrity issuesResponsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES REQUIRED:

    Strong computer literacy and database management skillsStrong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsAbility to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse communityKnowledge of student information systems, customer relations management systems and databases (e.g. People Soft); NSLDS, EDconnect and CODAbility to troubleshoot and resolve technical issuesAbility to work in accordance with policies, procedures, and federal and state regulationsExcellent time management, multitasking and organizational skillsAbility to work independently, or as part of a team, in a fast-paced environmentAbility to utilize multiple platforms for data extraction and report generationAbility to communicate with both technical and functional users during system updates
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

    Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipmentInterface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the positionWork is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of related work experience, with at least 3 years in a Manager- or Director-level positionMust be in, and maintain, good standing with the Department of Education for continued employmentMust successfully complete all NAFSAA Professional Credentials within one year of hire
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    At least 3 years of PeopleSoft experienceCertified Financial Aid Administrator (CFAA) certification
Salary

Hiring salary range is $74,380 - $85,537

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
