Job Summary
Provides primary oversight of the utilization and administration of the Metasys Building Automation System which is the standard system used by Augusta University to control and operate a majority of the building mechanical and electrical systems on each of three AU campuses. This position serves as the primary administrator and user of the Metasys operating system and includes providing trouble-shooting services for mechanical and electrical building systems at all AU facilities. This position will also provide technical direction to HVAC and Electrical Technicians as related to the repair of HVAC System control components and systems. Provides information for Work Orders related to troubleshooting and the subsequent repair/replacement of HVAC control devices. Stays current on recent trends and new technologies within the Building Automation control industry.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provides primary operational utilization the Johnson Controls Building Automation System known as Metasys which is the main HVAC control system in every AU building. This will include daily monitoring of the system and programming duties related to establishing control parameters for various types of HVAC and electrical system control devices.
- Monitors and adjust settings for all Energy Plant Equipment and systems as directed by the Plant Manager. Tracks data related to operational history of control system components.
- Develops and presents reports related to building operational performance for AU Facilities Staff and outside vendors.
- Provides training for AU HVAC technicians to aid in development of Building Automation System repair skills.
- Performs trouble-shooting activities to improve building performance for HVAC and electrical systems, components and devices to determine a root-cause analysis for failures or items not functioning as designed. May include going to individual buildings to manually manipulate control equipment to improve operation as well as provide technical advice and direction to AU & contracted HVAC technicians performing repair work. Utilizes the Maximo Work Order system to track repair efforts and inputs data into Maximo related to repairs. Performs available adjustments to HVAC control devices remotely to repair devices which are not functioning properly or no longer calibrated as designed. Communicates trouble-shooting findings to Johnson Control Inc. and AU HVAC Shop technicians.
- Provides support to Building Commissioning efforts by performing design reviews, report reviews and item follow-up to ensure that new systems undergo efficient start-up operations. Reviews Test and Balance (T & B) Reports including utilizing T & B Reports for establishing control parameters within buildings. Uses predictive maintenance techniques in the analysis of building systems.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned including providing support to other AU shops and organizations and events.
Shift/Salary
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
