The College is looking for exceptional colleagues, who understand the community college mission and are focused on student support and success. We are currently seeking a full-time Grant Writer in our Office of Institutional Advancement. The Grant Writer coordinatesgrant activities for the College and the MVCC Foundation, identifying, definingand developing funding sources to support existing and planned initiatives. Leadsthe development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to federal, stateand private funding sources. Gathers and analyzes data, develops proposals,collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, prepares reports, andconducts assessments.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Researches, develops, and writes grant proposals to address prioritized needs;
  • Collaborates with administrators and project managers to determine proposal concept, identify opportunities and clarifying needs, studying requests for proposals (RFPs), and attend strategy meetings;
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to refine and coordinate proposal requirements, obtains approvals by reviewing proposals and grant requirements with project managers and appropriate administrators;
  • Prepares proposals by determining concept, gathering and formatting information and writing drafts;
  • Gathers and analyzes relevant data on the College and community;
  • Establishes priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval and submission;
  • Prepares final grant proposal submissions, by assembling information including project nature, objective/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance and evaluation;
  • Maintains familiarity with evolving priorities and initiatives of College, MVCC Foundation and community;
  • Maintains familiarity with evolving priorities and procedures of diverse funding sources, both public and private;
  • Writes, revises, and edits drafts including executive summaries, conclusions and organization credentials;
  • Regularly updates stakeholders on grants-in-progress and/or received, and addresses concerns and issues proactively;
  • Collaborates with the principal investigator and college administrators on all institutional grants to provide reporting requirements, success measures, length of time and award totals;
  • Performs other duties related to the job description and as assigned by the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement and the MVCC Foundation.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of grantwriting experience
  • Self-motivated, ability to learn independently, effectiveoral and written communication skills, and effective organizational andprioritization skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previousprofessional work experience in a community college

*Effective 9/1/2022, the salary for this position will increase to $52,423.63.
