Job Summary

The Senior Instructional Designer facilitates the development of online courses for MDC Online. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Works with course developers one on one, providing instructional design guidance in designing, creating, and reviewing their courses
  • Assesses the faculty member’s course development needs and progress
  • Serves as a liaison with the other development services, graphics, video production, and learning objects programming
  • Works closely with College Training & Development (CT&D) with training faculty
  • Assists faculty with preparing/customizing their distance education courses for teaching the first time, and with revising existing courses
  • Identifies and secure appropriate educational materials and resources
  • Manages part-time personnel
  • Resolves students’ problems with course content
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology or related field with three (3) years of related work experience or teaching experience, or Bachelor’s degree with seven (7) years of related work experience or and teaching experience
  • All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and proceduresKnowledge and proficiency in a learning management system (LMS)Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal and collaborative skillsAbility to communicate effectively at all levels in an organization; to present information and respond to questions from groups of faculty, staff and administratorsPossess excellent communication, teaching, management, and organizational skillsPossess strong instructional design skillsPossess exceptional skills in creating online coursesAbility to work under pressure and meet inflexible deadlines Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evening and weekend assignments
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment
