Transfer Admissions Counselor
Reporting to the Associate Director of Transfer Admissions, the Transfer Admissions Counselor (Professional Services Specialist IV) is responsible for recruiting prospective applicants and representing the University in a variety of settings in-person and virtually, such as community college presentations, transfer fairs, college night programs, on-campus visits and special events; coordinating on-site admissions and credit evaluation services at community colleges within assigned geographic territory; holding off-campus office hours at assigned community colleges; meeting individual recruitment goals to support the University’s enrollment efforts; performing basic professional functions using established policies, procedures, precedents and guidelines; and does related work as required. The Transfer Admissions Counselor provides essential student support services and excellent customer service to prospective and current Kean University students and their families. This position requires a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. This position will also require extensive travel and driving to community colleges in New Jersey, in addition to multiple recruitment locations.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree; one year of professional experience in an enrollment management area in an institution of higher education or working directly with admissions, student recruitment and/or retention initiatives in a related field; transportation for recruitment travel; and a driver’s license valid in the State of New Jersey is required. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience. Previous recruiter experience in an admissions office in an institution of higher education is preferred. Datatel Colleague and Ellucian Recruiter experience is also preferred. Essential job functions include driving and the ability to lift, handle and transport recruitment materials and equipment over short and long distances. Traveling will require the ability to drive for short and extended periods of time. Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
