Development Coordinator, Class Giving

Reunion giving is a tradition at Stanford University and Class Giving fosters the tradition of class connection and philanthropy through robust reunion campaigns. Ranging from the 10th reunion to the 70th, our front-line fundraising team works with undergraduate alums, both major and annual donors, to honor their time at Stanford. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Development Coordinator will play a key partner role in all stages of the reunion cycle from discovery to volunteer recruitment through solicitation and stewardship

This position will work directly with multiple front-line fundraisers (Class Giving Officers), undergraduate alumni, donors, volunteers, and other university staff to assist in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with all university constituencies. The Development Coordinator for Class Giving will have the opportunity to work for an established reunion program housed within the Individual Giving team within Stanford's Office of Development (OOD).

The ideal candidate for this position has a strong belief in the importance of philanthropy and is willing to jump in and learn new processes and systems. Strong communication skills and data analytics is a must. Preferably, you are creative, have the ability to think outside the box, takes initiative in asking questions and drives projects forward, you are comfortable working with high-level volunteers and donors, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

JOB PURPOSE:

Development Coordinators (DC) provide administrative and routine support to fundraising programs and activities. The DC will partner with front-line fundraising staff, donors, volunteers, and other university staff to assist in establishing and maintaining relationships with all university constituencies.

CORE DUTIES*:
  • Provide project and administrative support to Class Giving Officers and corresponding reunion campaigns;
  • Retrieve information about prospects and donors, update records, and generate simple reports using the university external relations database. Bring and foster a commitment to promoting and supporting an environment of diversity and inclusion.
  • Answer questions and resolve inbound requests from alumni, donors, and other university constituents.
  • Maintain and organize highly complex Excel worksheets, as well as perform Excel functions (SUM, SUMIF, VLOOKUP, COUNTIF, IF, pivot tables) to synthesize data; create charts and graphs;
  • Process gifts using Stanford's Oracle-based Gift Transmittal system, troubleshoot gift and payment issues, and ensure accurate donor record keeping.
  • Process reimbursements for Class Giving Officers.
  • Assist in the design, publication and production of fundraising materials.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of class events, including managing invite lists, event registration, and other logistics as needed.
  • Build a network of relevant contacts, and stay informed on current university initiatives and activities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and one year relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of database systems
  • Familiarity with Salesforce is desirable.
  • Ability to work efficiently, juggle tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and achieve goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a wide range of people.
  • Outstanding communication skills and exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Exercise discretion in working with highly confidential and sensitive information.
