Department of Pediatrics, Section of Hematology, Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplantation Cellular-Therapeutics of has an opening for a full-time Assistant Professor – Advanced Practice Provider – Pediatric Hematology Program position.

Nature of Work:

This position will be in the Section of Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplantation-Cellular Therapeutics at an Assistant Professor level, working in the clinical service area of Pediatric NeuroOncology. The duties involve working with the NeuroOncology inpatient and outpatient teams in managing and coordinating all aspects of care of patients in the Section and in coordinating care with other services in the hospital system.

Position Emphasis:
    Provide independent care of pediatric Hem/Onc/BMT patients on the inpatient hospital service and outpatient clinic and infusion centers with a focus on the neurooncology team. Communicate with referring physicians regarding shared patients on Hem/Onc/BMT services. Provide education and supervision to medical students, advance practice provider students, residents, and fellows in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Publish, present, and develop academic work products related to clinical care and research of patients with neuro-oncology and related medical conditions. Write admission, discharge, acute care, and patient orders in collaboration with other physicians and advanced practice providers. Provide coordination of care between the inpatient and outpatient settings and serve as a primary liaison for the Neurofibromatosis patients and program. Participate in the treatment of patients on clinical research protocols, including maintaining Good Clinical Practice and Institutional Review Board training and education requirements to comply with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Coordinate multi-disciplinary care of pediatric oncology patients with other hospital and outpatient services including Neurosurgery and Radiation Oncology. Coordinate and assist with education of new patients and families. Participate in Quality/Safety, Process Improvement Initiatives and conduct investigator-initiated research studies in the fields of pediatric oncology and other related disciplines. Provide educational support to nursing and support staff. This position will have shared holiday, weekend and night call responsibilities commensurate with other advanced practice provider faculty.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring rate for this position has been established at $131,558.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire
  • Master's Degree
  • Advanced Certification and Licenses in the following or closely related area: Advance Practice Nursing (NP, PNP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
  • Continuous maintenance of licensing and certification
  • At least two years of previous experience in Pediatric Neuro-Oncology
  • Agreement to fulfill acute care certification is required within five (5) years of hire date for Nurse Practitioners

Conditions of Employment
  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications
  • More than 2 years' previous experience in pediatric oncology
  • Acute care certification for Nurse Practitioners
  • Experience with clinical research operations and patient care
  • Prescription authority in the State of Colorado

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to work in both an Inpatient and Outpatient pediatric oncology setting
  • Skills in Patient Safety, Quality Care, Communication and Customer Service
  • Ability to collaborate with and lead a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge of and ability to read and understand medical charts within an electronic health records system in order to write orders, understand care and be able to answer questions from other faculty, families and patients
