The Colleges: The Haslam College of Business is home to nearly 6,100 undergraduate students and 700 graduate students.  Seven academic departments – Accounting and Information Systems, Business Analytics and Statistics, Economics, Finance, Management and Entrepreneurship, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management– are housed in HCB, along with non-degree programs and centers that serve the community and state.  Undergraduate students at HCB have a choice of nine majors, thirteen collaterals, and six concentrations.  The HCB also provides a number of honors and signature programs, as well as, a leadership and professional development series for all undergraduate business students. The Tickle College of Engineering provides 11 BS degrees, 16 MS degrees and 13 Ph.D. degrees through 7 departments. The College has a common freshman program administered by the TCE through the Engineering Fundamentals Directorate overseeing the general Engineering Fundamentals and Engineering Honors Programs. The Position: The Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program(Heath IBEP) Director will provide leadership direction to a signature undergraduate program. Heath IBEP provides honors-like experiences to enrolled undergraduate students in the two colleges—Haslam College of Business & Tickle College of Engineering. The position is a 12-month salaried position and reports jointly to the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs/Academic & Student Affairs in the Haslam College of Business(HCB) & the Associate Dean of Academic & Student Affairs in the Tickle College of Engineering(TCE).

The Director will manage the IBEP program’s day-to-day operations and long-term strategy. Established in 2016, the IBEP program has experienced a steady pattern of growth within the HCB and TCE. Under the new Director, it is anticipated that the cohort-based program will be the type of leader that will advance the IBEP program to the next level. An expectation is that the program continue to grow and recruit an highly qualified a group of approximately equal size cohorts from HCB and TCE each year to begin the program as a cohort of sophomores.  The cohort/community experience is the centerpiece of the IBEP student's educational experience. The cohorts will enroll in joint courses, will receive 1:1 executive mentoring, and participate in a full portfolio of extracurricular activities (e.g., participate in c-suite speaker series, internships, professional development series) to fulfill the program requirements. This position will direct the program on behalf of the two colleges, oversee student recruitment and selection process, develop and oversee curricular and co-curricular experiences and their execution, create and facilitate international faculty-led program-specific experiences, act as a liaison with industry and manage the marketing and publicity for the program. At the Department level, the Director will interact and interface with department heads and program directors across both colleges on strategic initiatives that serve the best interests of the Program. The Director will also engage with the two Heath Faculty Fellows faculty who collaborate on potential research opportunities that span business and engineering disciplines. The Director will be expected to demonstrate integration leadership skills across two colleges, the college’s board of advisors and contributors, interface with key stakeholders from both colleges that operate key initiatives (e.g., centers, honors programs), and will liaise and collaborate with other units on campus.  The IBEP Director will engage with the Heath IBEP Advisory Committee twice a year to report on activity and progress.

Responsibilities: The Director of the Heath Integrated Business & Engineering Program must have excellent strategic planning, supervisory, budgeting, communication, writing, decision-making, problem solving, creativity, technology, organization, networking, and ability to deliver to invested stakeholders.


The Director will have knowledge of professional and leadership development within business and engineering industries. Additionally, the Director is responsible for:

Required Qualifications:

Education:  Master’s degree in Engineering or Business and/or an MBA.

Experience:  A minimum of 7 years of full-time experience in higher education and/or industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

    Industry position at an executive level and experience with multiple elements of a company.Strong working knowledge of the following software: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, Google Suite
