Description

The Wind and Renewable Energy Technology instructor is responsible for the instruction of students in the classroom and the laboratory. The instructor is responsible for providing a quality education for program students and performing instructional-related duties and responsibilities in accordance with the philosophy, mission, policies, and procedures of the Rowan College of South Jersey.

Examples of Duties

  1. Teaches GWO Basic Technical Training assigned courses.
  2. Facilitates student learning by meeting with and teaching assigned classes in accordance with the college academic calendar and approved syllabi.
  3. Promotes and supports the value of diversity and cultural sensitivity in all aspects of learning and teaching.
  4. Uses regular and occasional assessment data to monitor student learning and adjusts teaching methods, accommodating student learning styles and helping them achieve course outcomes.
  5. Maintains a working knowledge of the technology necessary for the subjects taught and for other college requirements.
  6. Maintains necessary academic records and submits records according to published deadlines.
  7. Participates in Global Wind Organization (GWO) trainings.
  8. Participates in marketing and outreach activities.
  9. Maintains licenses and certificates required for employment eligibility (GWO credentials).
  10. Performs other duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Science or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning
  • Minimum of two (2) years field experience in wind & renewable energy technology required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year teaching experience
  • GWO Training Instructor, or ability to become certified
  • Ability to design and implement successful pedagogical strategies for students exhibiting a broad range of abilities
  • Prior experience utilizing innovative teaching methods, incorporating the use of technology and online resource strategies.
  • Possess appropriate technological equipment to handle online learning platform.
  • Fairness and flexibility in understanding and working with a wide variety of students and assisting them with adjusting to the intellectual environment and requirements of a college academic community
  • Possesses the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners
  • Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment
