Assistant Dean of Materials Science & Engineering Technology

The faculty will be responsible for educational leadership, student instruction, and student advising in the Welding program.

-Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form. (Minimum)
-Willingness to participate in advanced training programs which may require travel, with or without accommodation. (Minimum)
-Possession of a valid driver’s license. (Desired)

-Bachelor’s Degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Technology, or closely related discipline. (Minimum)
-Master’s or Ph.D. in Engineering, Education, or closely related discipline. (desired)

-Five (5) years of industrial welding experience. (Minimum)
-Curriculum development experience in vocational education. (Desired)
-Successful teaching experience. (Desired)
-Experience with outcomes assessment and/or ABET accreditation. (Desired)
-Experience with Non-Destructive Testing, High Energy Density Processes and/or Robotics. (Desired)

-Instruct and evaluate student performance in one or more of the following welding areas: Oxyfuel Welding & Cutting, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, and Flux Cored Arc Welding. (Essential)
-Advise, schedule, and maintain accurate records on students. (Essential)
-Maintain regular office hours and fulfill all other duties and responsibilities according to contractual guidelines. (Essential)
-Write and update course syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development. (Essential)
-Engage in professional development and technological upgrading activities. (Essential)
-Contribute to betterment of College through School wide committee participation. (Essential)
-Contribute to betterment of College through College-wide committee participation. (Marginal)
-Assume responsibility for laboratory development, coordination, and maintenance. (Essential)
-Assist with the preparation of grant proposals and with follow-up activities. (Marginal)

Commensurate with credentials submitted as applied to the College’s Faculty Salary System. As a point of reference, the salary range for new full-time faculty hired in various disciplines throughout the College for the 2021/22 academic year is $57,225 – $74,793.

The wages, hours, and terms and conditions of employment for full-time teaching faculty, counselors and librarians (all regular College funded positions and certain grant/contract funded positions) are determined by the negotiated Agreement between Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association.
