Job Summary: The IT Technical Specialist II performs a broad scope of professional IT activities requiring experienced, professional knowledge and application of IT principles, practices and procedures. Usually requires evaluation, originality or ingenuity.

Additional Department Summary: The Information Security Analyst, Jr. is responsible for participating in a comprehensive information security program to ensure appropriate security technology, tools, processes, procedures, reporting, and remediation are maintained to protect the University’s computing assets from unauthorized access, modification, destruction, or disclosure. Participates in regular monitoring and maintenance of security tools and systems under the guidance of a more senior team member. Triages alerts, tickets, and incidents as needed. Resolves alerts from tools including, but not limited to, cloud applications, authentication systems, and endpoint security tools. Follows and documents procedures and playbooks to resolve incidents and alerts. Completes training annually to increase security knowledge and skills.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree; OR Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of IT experience; OR Associate’s degree and three (3) years of IT experience; OR High School Diploma or GED and five (5) years of IT experience. Knowledge of intermediate programming, networking, system, multimedia or instructional technology skills. May require intermediate level training or certification.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferred. Will require advanced level training or certification. The candidate must be willing to maintain security certifications upon employment.
