Job Description:

Develop and implement student employee training and development program for Residence Life & Education team

  • Lead in the design, development, and implementation of a holistic student employee experience that includes training, continuing education, leadership programming, and student staff retention efforts
  • Establish productive learning environments for live or virtual programs by securing and configuring physical space and virtual spaces using Zoom, Teams or other remote communication platforms
  • Develop effective training materials utilizing a variety of platforms and media
  • Plan, coordinate, and/or conduct on-going continuing education training activities collaborating with campus partners as needed; disseminate information, coordinate registration, and document and maintain records of student attendance and successful completion
  • Evaluate and analyze the effectiveness of student learning, trainings, and programs generating reports or recommendations for future direction
  • Lead, design, and deliver unit wide annual team training program for Resident Assistants and Graduate Assistants
  • Develop and implement student staff recognition and appreciation programs or ceremonies
  • Serve as liaison to the Division of Student Life for student employment ensuring divisional goals and competencies are shared and met
  • Manage and ensure completion of university and department required compliance trainings for Residence Life & Education student staff
  • Interpret and ensure compliance with departmental and University policies, guidelines, and other relevant regulations
  • Responsible for budget planning, development, and oversight in area of responsibility
  • Recruit, train, and supervise, student staff establishing work priorities and workflow; provide general direction and leadership for goal accomplishment

Coordinate student staff recruitment, placement and onboarding process for Residence Life & Education team

  • Manage the holistic student employee experience that includes recruitment and placement processes for Resident Assistants
  • Coordinate onboarding processes for new Graduate Assistants and Resident Assistants
  • Coordinate with Housing Human Resources to ensure employment eligibility of selected candidates as well as recruitment and interview processes align with university processes
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Strategic Communications to create promotional materials needed for student staff recruitment; in collaboration, create effective marketing plan and strategy for upcoming Resident Assistant positions
  • Coordinate Graduate Assistant recruitment process serving as liaison to the Division of Student Life and Student Personnel and Higher Education (SPHE) program

Serve in an on-call capacity for all campus housing

  • Serve in an on-call duty rotation, providing coverage for the area including night, weekend, and holidays responding to calls for assistance and emergency situations
  • Provide emergency management direction, support, follow-up, and care for staff and students
  • Act as a liaison to university resources in emergency situations (e.g. Counselor-on-Call, UF Police Department)
  • Ensure secure storage of on-call tools (e.g. keys, phones, and other pieces of technology) at all times.

Develop reports, handle special projects, and perform other duties as assigned

  • Serve on departmental, Division of Student Life or University of Florida committees or program support as needed
Expected Salary:

$48,000

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

A valid Florida driver’s license is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Master's degree in higher education, preferably in student personnel, counseling, or administration or other related field
  • Experience with staff training programs and program development
  • Experience with online learning management systems (e.g. Canvas)
  • Demonstrated experience with event management
  • Demonstrated experience with crisis management
  • Knowledge of student development theory, developing learning outcomes, and the experiential learning process

SKILLS

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate training or create educational materials
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers and basic software applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Demonstrated planning, time management, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills
