Department Information

The Office of Development is principally responsible for securing the understanding and philanthropic support of the private sector for the Institute and its programs. The Office focuses its efforts on obtaining commitments for major and principal gifts to the Institute and its associated foundation(s) and leads the comprehensive fundraising efforts, which results in gift revenues in excess of $150 million annually and over $200 million in new gifts and commitments during Fiscal Year 2022. Support is sought to enable the Institute and its colleges, schools, and other programs to achieve strategic objectives that will keep our educational programs on the leading edge of discoveries and developments.

Job Summary

Responsible for preparing correspondence and gift documentation to major donors of GT. Responsible for gift acknowledgement letters, endowment agreements, gift listings for publications, and other special communications. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: donors, staff, faculty, and Office of Development management.This position typically will advise and counsel: staff and management in Office of Development.This position will supervise: NA

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Prepare acknowledgement of receipt of major gifts and commitments, including support materials, over the signature of the President of the Institute and the Vice President for Development.

Job Duty 2 -
Draft, manage, review, and process endowment agreements among the GT Foundation, the Alexander-Tharpe Fund, the Institute, and its donors, ensuring that agreements are in keeping with all policies and protocols for endowment agreements.

Job Duty 3 -
Research, draft, and review gift listings for Development publications.
Job Duty 4 -
Respond to ad hoc requests to facilitate communications with donors by preparing letters for the President, the Vice President for Development, and other Development staff.

Job Duty 5 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Other Required Qualifications
Overnight travel required for project delivery; flexibility in on-site daily service delivery hours (due to client shift schedules, project requirements).

Required Experience
Three to four years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Experience with donor stewardship, donor relations, communications, and project management

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's Degree

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
Demonstrated understanding of the role and process of the development function in a university environment. Demonstrated excellent writing, editing, and verbal skills with previous experience meetings deadlines. Ability to interact effectively and diplomatically with donors, faculty, staff, students, alumni and others. Ability to build and effectively utilize relationships with faculty, staff, and vendors to enable project completion. Strong initiative and self-motivation. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access, including the ability to input or edit information into spreadsheets or data management systems, search and retrieve information, and generate standard reports.
