Detailed Description:
Creates and processes confidential Human Resources documents for over 100 continuing and temporary employees within the department. Creates and tracks intercollegiate athletic event competition contracts that include financial guarantees. Works closely with the A VP to plan and execute the quarterly Athletics committee meetings of the Board of Trustees. Provides day-to-day and long-range assistance to the AVP on a wide variety of assignments and special projects. Works closely with the President's Office, Vice President for Operations, Finance and Administration, Human Resources and senior athletic administrators to make sure the A VP is informed of all issues and deadlines. Exercises independent judgment and initiative in bringing information and challenges to the A VP's attention. Performs a variety of administrative and business responsibilities that reflect the A VP's priorities, the University's mission and goals, and the Mission Statement of the Athletic Department. Manages the AVP's business calendar and creates extensive travel itineraries and briefings for the A VP. Supervision received; general supervision from the A VP. Supervision exercised; shares close supervision of three student employees. Provides some work direction and supervision of Athletic Department office staff.

Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from a college or university with a bachelor's degree highly preferred. High school diploma required.
- Three years of experience providing support at an executive level required.
- Supervisory experience strongly preferred; interest in athletics required.
- Ability to become familiar with, and follow, NCAA rules and regulations required.
- Working knowledge of state and federal employment rules and regulations required.
Performance Expectations: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to initiate, coordinate, oversee, and use independent judgment to complete various projects with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate a very high level of diplomacy and confidentiality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong human relations skills: ability to work well with various University constituents including parents, students, administrators (including regular interaction with Trustees, the President's office, and Vice Presidents), coaches, and staff employees; vendors; existing and potential donors to USD Athletics programs; athletics administration and coaching personnel at other institutions; and athletics conference (e.g., NCAA, WCC, PCSC, WAC, and PFL) personnel; conflict resolution, decision-making and implementation skills; experience in a leadership/supervisory role.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational techniques; ability to remain calm under pressure and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of basic accounting and budgetary procedures, as well as current human resource management policies and procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information both for students and employees per the Buckley Amendment and USD regulations.
- Excellent skills in the use of specific equipment and tools as identified below.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- CPR/ AED/First Aid certification required for compliance with department regulations.
