SENIOR DIVERSITY OFFICER

The College of Saint Benedict (CSB) and Saint John's University (SJU), two selective, national liberal arts Catholic institutions, with distinct but supporting missions, invite inquiries, applications and nominations for the inaugural Senior Diversity Officer (SDO). Reporting directly to the newly appointed president for both institutions, Brian Bruess, Ph.D., the SDO will serve as a member of the leadership team and lead institution-wide efforts to create a more diverse, equitable and inclusive campus community. The inaugural SDO is expected to assume office in January 2023 or soon thereafter.

CSB is an institution for women and SJU is an institution for men, together serving 2,900 students on campuses located in central Minnesota, minutes away from the St. Cloud metropolitan area. The SDO will serve as a visionary leader, a strategic thought partner to President Bruess, and a proactive force for unifying stakeholders across campus around a foundational vision for DEI initiatives. The SDO will actively seek to develop relationships with individuals and offices across the two campuses and demonstrate the ability to lead with strategy and innovation, particularly around change management.

For more information about the institution, position, leadership agenda, qualifications, and application process, please review the search prospectus, available for download, on the Academic Search website: https://academicsearch.org/open-searches-public/entry/12760/?search=12760. Additional information about CSB and SJU is available at https://www.csbsju.edu/.

Maya Ranchod Kirkhope, Vice President and Senior Consultant at Academic Search, is assisting with this national search. Applications, nominations, and inquiries may be sent in confidence to CSBSJUSDO@academicsearch.org. Although application materials will be accepted until the time that the inaugural SDO is selected, candidates should submit materials by September 15, 2022, for the most favorable consideration.

The College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University are Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employers. We strive to attract and retain a talented, diverse workforce. Women, people of diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

CSB, for women, and SJU, for men, are nationally recognized Catholic liberal arts colleges and ranked as two of the top three Catholic colleges in the nation. They share one academic program, and students attend classes together on both campuses. This integrated learning experience combines a challenging academic program with extensive opportunities for international study, leadership, service learning, spiritual growth and cultural and athletic involvement. The combined enrollment of more than 3,800 students makes CSB and SJU the largest of the nation's liberal arts colleges.

CSB/SJU are committed to the development of the whole person, meeting the unique needs of both women and men in single-gender and co-educational experiences.

The Catholic character of CSB and SJU is shaped by the Benedictine communities which founded the colleges in the 19th century and continues to foster Benedictine Catholic values in the academic, spiritual and social life of the colleges. Today, Benedictine women and men remain actively involved in teaching and administration, and their prayerful presence in community life provides the stable sense of home for which both CSB and SJU are so well known.
