Job Summary:

The Denman lab is seeking to hire a post-doctoral researcher that will help conduct research experiments focused on the biophysical effects of electrical stimulation in rodents. This is an NIH funded position; the incumbent must be able to receive, and act on, detailed instructions when beginning projects in the lab. However, for routine and trained tasks, the incumbent is expected to work independently. Methodological approaches include high-density electrophysiological recording techniques, optogenetic stimulation, whole brain tissue clearing and imaging, data analysis in a scientific computing environment (Python), and project management. The incumbent will help summarize and communicate results/findings in the form of manuscripts and meeting presentations. Supervision is provided by Dr. Denman.

Examples of Work Performed:
  • Conduct biological experiments, including in-vivo high-density electrophysiology, electrical and optogenetic stimulation, tissue clearing
  • Data analysis and interpretation (with initial supervision)
  • Management of project work and goals, including reporting of intermediate results
  • Contribute to data presentation and assist in communication of results

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary is $56,760 - $63,066. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum requirements must be identifiable from the CV/Resume
  • PhD degree in Neuroscience or related biological field
  • > 3 years experience with stereotactic surgeries on rodents
  • > 3 years experience with in vivo recording and modulation techniques on rodents
  • Scientific or other programming experience (e.g., Python, MATLAB)
  • Demonstration of professional scholarship (e.g., authorship credit on published papers)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Identifiable from the CV/Resume
  • Experience with tissue clearing and whole orgain imaging
  • Experience with electronics fabrication (e.g., Arduino, soldering)
