Research Opportunities

The Espinosa and Sullivan labs in the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome are seeking postdoctoral fellows. We employ an integrated approach including functional genomics, mechanistic studies, and animal research to make biological discoveries with clear translational potential. Our current work is focused on understanding how hyperactivation of interferon signaling in people with Down syndrome contributes to the clinical impacts of trisomy 21, including predisposition to autoimmune conditions, Alzheimer's Disease, leukemia, and protection from solid malignancies (e.g. Sullivan et al., eLIFE 2016; Powers et. al., Nature Communications 2019; Waugh et al., Cell Reports 2019). We currently have numerous NIH-funded positions available.



Duties and Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will work to develop a research project aligned with the overall goals of the team. Responsibilities include designing and performing experiments, analyzing data, contributing to the writing of grants and manuscripts, and aiding in oversight of more junior team members.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $53,760 - $65,292.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in immunology, neuroscience, developmental biology, or a related field
  • Proven ability to work independently within a research lab

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with molecular biology methods
  • Experience with rodent models
