System Administration, which also houses the Office of the President, is located in the uptown neighborhood of Denver with a few smaller offices located on the campuses.  Many of our departments support the educational and research missions of the four University of Colorado campuses, but System Administration is not considered a campus. The Office of University Risk Management is responsible for affirmative control and minimization of risk, promoting a strong proactive loss prevention program, and using aggressive leading edge concepts to insure the safety of students, employees and others as well as protecting the assets and income of each system campus

Position Summary

The Business Services Professional provides key administrative and program support to all campuses within the University of Colorado (CU) system to promote an effective consolidated risk management program. This position demonstrates professional customer service while addressing telephone inquiries from claimants, campus representatives, attorneys, and other parties. The Business Services Professional works cooperatively with many offices and departments at the CU campuses to analyze incoming incident reports and ensure the accuracy of claims data while being cognizant of the distinctive activities of a public research university. 

This position reports to the Central Management Support Supervisor is exempt from the State of Colorado Classified System.

Where you will Work

This position is approved for a Hybrid working arrangement at the System Administration office.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: 

Administrative Support
  • Answers incoming calls, responds to questions, provides customer assistance, or directs callers to the appropriate resources
  • Assists University Risk Management (URM) staff at all locations with various administrative projects 
  • Supports campus departments by providing general information related to the University's risk management programs
  • Copies claims files and scans and faxes documents
  • Requests pick-up and retrieval of files from the department's off-site storage facility
  • Maintains accurate claim file databases of records stored at the storage facility
  • Performs other general office duties as assigned

Risk Management Program Support
  • Processes all of claimant, vendor, and department payments to include the check printing process and verification that all payments meet URM audit guidelines
  • Create and maintain a document repository system to ensure all non-digital claimant files are accessible
  • Contacts provider offices to have incorrect billings updated
  • Analyzes incoming incident reports, determines the type of claim, and identifies or locates other pertinent data for entry into the Risk Information Management System
  • Works with all campuses to ensure accurate claims data is obtained and entered in a timely manner 
  • Maintains knowledge of regulatory timelines and ensures compliance with the Division of Workers' Compensation rules and regulations
  • Works closely and cooperatively with University Risk Management staff to assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that support a strategy to manage the cost of providing asset and income loss protection and risk financing
  • Travels to each campus, as necessary, to participate in University Risk Management and campus meetings and presentations
  • Provides back-up for other team members as needed

What we offer

Salary: The anticipated hiring range has been established at $60,000-$62,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications 
Minimum Qualifications:

Please ensure your resume includes any and all relevant experience to be accurately assessed against these qualifications.  You must meet all minimum requirements listed at the time of application to be considered for this role.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education, or equivalent professional experience (professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis)
  • One (1) year of equivalent experience in higher education, risk management, safety, administrative support, or insurance-related position.
  • Travel to the campuses as necessary

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years' equivalent experience, as stated above.
  • Professional experience in higher education and/or Colorado public entity risk management, risk management, safety or insurance-related position
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Professional designation of Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
