Position Information:

The Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH) is a unique and collaborative graduate school that combines the collective expertise of three Colorado universities: the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (CU Anschutz) in Aurora, Colorado State University (CSU) in Fort Collins, and the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) in Greeley, Colorado. The Colorado School of Public Health is the only accredited school of public health in the Rocky Mountain Region, attracting top tier faculty and students from across the country, and providing a vital contribution towards ensuring our region's health and wellbeing. The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health has an opening for a part-time position with an interest in community and occupational health and agriculture total worker health to join our diverse team of researchers. The employee will assist with community-based research activities on total worker health in agriculture workers by collecting primary data, interviewing participants, advertising and marketing the study, and potentially collection of water samples. Candidates should be highly motivated, have strong organization, and communication and problem-solving skills.

The Center for Health, Work & Environment (CHWE) at the Colorado School of Public Health conducts research, offers education and training, and implements community-based public health projects, as well as pilot project research opportunities throughout the West. It conducts Total Worker Health research and community-based initiatives in the US and abroad in partnership with community stakeholders who share the mission of improving the health, safety and well-being of workers, their families, and communities.

We are looking to hire a local (within the San Luis Valley) part-time hourly community engagement assistant to work on two local projects for a period of 9 monthss,



Supervision Received:

Katherine James, Associate Professor in the Center for Health Work and Environment and the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health in the Colorado School of Public Health

Supervision Exercised:

None



Job Duties:

The job duties will include, but not limited to:
    Meet with study participants for interviews to collect data (survey takes about 1 hour to complete) Correspond and work with community partners in support of recruiting participants Correspond and meet with research team members in Denver to update on the data collection Complete confidentiality forms and research trainings

Competencies:
    Familiarity with San Luis Valley including, driving, community, and people Strong communication skills especially with email and telephone (text or spoken) Strong interpersonal verbal and listening communication skills as used in interviews and information collecting Experience in Microsoft Office products. Ability to learn skills related to the job. Work well in meeting new community people



Salary Range:

The salary range for this position has been established at $20-$25 / hour (approximately 10 hours per week on average)

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
    A high school degree Fluency in the Spanish Language Access to local transportation (car) Access to a cell phone or email for communication with the research team in Denver

Preferred Requirements:
    Bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Background or experience with agriculture work, farming, and or farm operations. Experience with conducting interviews for data collection Experience with online survey data collection
