Applications are sought for a full-time faculty position with benefits offered through the Department of Medicine, Division of Medical Oncology within the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado. Candidates should have research interests and experience in basic science, cancer development and preclinical studies. The duties of the individual holding this position include assisting the PI in the continued development of a strong, externally funded research program. The position will report to PI faculty Dr. Sharon R. Pine, Ph.D., Professor of Medicine, Director of the Thoracic Oncology Research Initiative (TORI), who has recently relocated her laboratory from New Jersey.

The Pine laboratory uses a multi-omics and multi-disciplinary approach to 1) identify the biological contributors to lung cancer health disparities; 2) define the molecular pathways that drive lung cancer growth and metastases, and 3) elucidate the mechanisms of resistant to targeted and immunotherapies, then test novel treatments in pre-clinical studies and move them to clinical trials. The PI is committed to supporting the candidate's academic career development and research progress, including the exploration of new project areas and collaborations. Job Responsibilities:

The position includes keeping abreast of current literature, formulating long- and short-term research goals, conducting research, evaluating laboratory data and protocols, preparing and submitting manuscripts based on research conducted within the lab, and preparing and submitting grant applications to appropriate federal or private agencies to secure funding for the research program. It is important for the individual to interact effectively with other members of the departmental faculty and the scientific community and to establish fruitful research collaborations. The individual is expected to present their research in all appropriate venues to increase awareness of research being performed in the lab and to facilitate collaborations and interactions. The individual is expected to supervise lab personnel. Supervisory tasks include training, monitoring progress, prioritizing work, assigning tasks, and evaluating trainees in collaboration with the lab PI, as well as program project budget oversight. This position does not include the ability to hire, resolve grievances, and/or initiate disciplinary actions. The individual is also expected to maintain assessable, fully transparent records of experimental design, execution, results and interpretations, as well as be responsible for all rules of conduct related to ethical research.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at: $80,000 - $90,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
    Ph.D., M.D. or other comparable doctoral degree in the biomedical sciences from an accredited institution in the U.S., or equivalent, with a strong publication history as first author Five years of post-doctoral or similar experiences and ability to document significant laboratory training within the broad field of cancer biology is necessary to maintain the laboratory and supervise lab personnel.

Preferred Qualifications:
    Experience in cancer research, molecular biology, cellular biology, immunology, bioinformatics, lung cancer models including patient-derived xenografts, humanized models and genetically engineered mouse models, and experience with preclinical drug assays is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    The applicant must have strong interpersonal skills, experience in supervising or training of research personnel, and be self-motivated.
