The University of Colorado School of Medicine is seeking a Pediatrics Liaison to join its Colorado Springs Branch Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (LIC) team. Specialty Liaison Roles reside at each Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (LIC) site; they work closely with the LIC Directors, LIC Coordinators, other Specialty Liaisons, and medical students in support of the design and implementation of the LIC. This is at at-will, paid position at a 0.1 FTE equivalent of salary support, up to an equivalent salary of the Educational Salary Cap ($200,000)

The Colorado Springs LIC CHCO Pediatrics Liaison will coordinate and innovate educational opportunities—inclusive of inpatient pediatrics experiences, emergency medicine, surgery, and pediatric subspecialties at CHCHO—for Colorado Springs LIC students. The CHCO Pediatrics Liaison will work closely with the Colorado Springs LIC Outpatient Pediatrics Liaison and the LIC Directors to develop Pediatrics education in the LIC.

Examples of Work Performed:
    Oversight of inpatient pediatric immersion experiences for all Colorado Springs LIC students. Develop protocols and systems to facilitate longitudinal care of patients for students, including assisting students in follow up of patients who are admitted for inpatient treatment and follow-up in specialty care areas. Recruitment, stewardship, and oversight of preceptors who work longitudinally with students. Provide ongoing education of faculty and house staff about student roles in patient care and best practices in teaching LIC students. Provide ongoing faculty development to preceptors regarding longitudinal precepting, mentoring and assessment skills. Close collaboration with Clinical Core Directors (CCDs) to ensure LIC students are achieving competency and comparability in all required domain aspects required by the clerkship. Develop all specialty-specific didactic content in conjunction with CCDs and Basic Sciences Course Directors (BSCDs). Facilitate/teach specialty-specific didactic sessions over the course of the year (or recruit faculty speakers). Assist with the regular assessment of students including direct observation, identification of students who need support, collaboration with CCD on remediation plans, gathering of assessments and feedback from all supervisors working with students, creating summary reports of student progress, and participation in grading meetings Assist with the administration of the LIC programs at their site as needed.



Other Expectations
    Specialty liaisons are expected to be involved in direct medical student teaching of medical students in the Colorado Springs Branch LIC. Participation in quarterly Colorado Springs LIC meetings. Participation in virtual state-wide meetings with the Clinical Core Directors and LIC liaisons from other sites.



Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at $10,000 to $20,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Clinical Assistant Professor:
Candidates must be a board-certified physician in Pediatrics. Candidates must hold a MD or DO degree from an accredited University. Candidates must perform clinical work at CHCO in Colorado Springs.
Clinical Associate Professor:
Candidates must be a board-certified physician in Pediatrics. Candidates must hold a MD or DO degree from an accredited University. Candidates must perform clinical work at CHCO in Colorado Springs.
Clinical Professor:
Candidates must be a board-certified physician in Pediatrics. Candidates must hold a MD or DO degree from an accredited University. Candidates must perform clinical work at CHCO in Colorado Springs.
Clinical Instructor:
Candidates must be a board-certified physician in Pediatrics. Candidates must hold a MD or DO degree from an accredited University. Candidates must perform clinical work at CHCO in Colorado Springs.
Clinical Sr Instructor:
Candidates must be a board-certified physician in Pediatrics. Candidates must hold a MD or DO degree from an accredited University. Candidates must perform clinical work at CHCO in Colorado Springs.
Preferred Qualifications (for all ranks clinical professor series):
Experience teaching medical students. Experience with and knowledge of medical education at the University of Colorado School of Medicine Preferred start date: negotiable, but desired is by July 1, 2022

Competencies (for all ranks clinical professor series):
The successful individual in this position must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and value working within a team. Organizational skills and attention to detail are important. The individual in this position needs to be a person who can cultivate relationships with both university and community physicians, as well as students, and be available to answer questions and problem solve as needed. This person must also cultivate sustainable relationships with other faculty in the school of medicine and the Colorado Springs Branch, working to ensure the curriculum is well represented. The individual must enjoy working with students, providing advice on how to troubleshoot/resolve issues, and assisting students to ensure their success.
