Nature of Work:

The Department of Pathology, University of Colorado School of Medicine, Anschutz Medical Campus, including Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO), is seeking a full time board-certified or board-eligible neuropathologist to be appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor in an academically-oriented position that will involve service, teaching, and potentially research activities. The position entails sign out of pediatric (at CHCO) and potentially adult neuropathology surgical specimens [at University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) depending on candidate interest level], autopsy CNS specimens, and frozen section coverage for neuropathology cases. CHCO cases include close to 300 total neurosurgical specimens and 60 autopsy specimens with more than 150 tumors each year. UCH volume includes approximately 1,500 surgical cases per year. Sign out of neuromuscular cases is not required by the candidate. Our neuropathology service is actively engaged in teaching of pathology residents and medical students, in addition to fellows from other services, neurosurgery, neurology, neuroradiology, and pediatric pathology. The successful candidate would join a team of 4 other neuropathologists on the campus.

While not required, other areas of sub specialization, including pediatric pathology, cytopathology, hematopathology, or molecular pathology would be welcome.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at:

Asstistant Professor $130,000 to $290,000

Associate Professor $212,000 to $290,000

Professor $250,000 to $310,000

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

MD or MD/PhD and must be board-certified or board-eligible neuropathologist.

Assistant Professor: Additional subspecialty areas with or without board certification preferred. Demonstrable experience in both adult and pediatric neuropathology, nerve and muscle pathology, eye pathology, medical autopsy pathology preferred. Candidates who have independent research effort will be considered as long as they have transferable research funding from external sources.

Associate Professor: Same as above. Must have board certification from American Board of Pathology in Neuropathology with 8 years of faculty experience at academic medical center and independent research or peer reviewed publications in neuropathology commensurate with rank. Candidates who have independent research effort will be considered as long as they have transferable research funding from external sources.

Professor: Same as above. Must have board certification from American Board of Pathology in Neuropathology with 12 years of faculty experience at academic medical center and independent research or peer reviewed publications in neuropathology commensurate with rank. Candidates who have independent research effort will be considered as long as they have transferable research funding from external sources.

Desired Qualifications (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor):

Persons with a broad interest in all aspects of neuropathology and enthusiasm for teaching are especially encouraged to apply, although those focused on brain tumors, eye pathology, medical autopsy neuropathology and/or neurodegenerative disorders.
