The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Cardiology has an opening for three full-time Assistant Professor CICU MD positions.

Nature of Work:
  • The Heart Institute allies the work of four cardiovascular surgeons with a host of 80 Faculty members including highly specialized pediatric cardiologists, intensivists, anesthetists, Physician Assistants and Advanced Nurse Practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists and other experts. We offer training to 10 categorical Cardiology Fellows, 1 Cardiovascular Surgery Fellow and 4 Senior Fellows including an advanced CICU Fellow, and we closely collaborate in the training of PICU, Neonatology and Anesthesia fellows. The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit admits around 800 surgical and medical patients a year. We have a state-of-the-art 22 bed Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and a 24 bed Cardiac step-down unit. The CICU faculty members are very productive in academic endeavors and in multiple fields of interest, and our medical staff is often invited to lecture and involved with advocacy and humanitarian work both nationally and globally.

Position Emphasis:

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • The candidate's primary clinical responsibility will be to serve on the cardiac ICU service on a full-time basis.
  • Other clinical opportunities are available and can be customized to individual interests.
  • Participation in clinical or translational research and educational activities will be expected.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $231,000 to $250,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree
  • Board Certified in Pediatrics
  • Board Eligible/Certified in Pediatric Cardiology or Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
  • Formal training in pediatric intensive care

Conditions of Employment:
  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years of attending level experience as a pediatric cardiac intensivist, with significant experience in complex neonatal cardiac intensive care, particularly with single ventricle physiology
  • Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care (either a one-year formal training as an advanced cardiac intensive care senior fellow, or double-Boarded in Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatric Intensive Care)

Competencies:
  • Must be able to be flexible, collaborative within the Heart Institute and other areas within CHCO
