The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Neurology has an opening for a full-time Assistant Professor or Associate Professor - Neurologist position.

Nature of Work:
  • Providing clinical care to children and adolescents with general neurological disorders including recurrent headaches, epilepsy, and other common neurological disorders in an outpatient and inpatient setting. This position will be primarily located at Anschutz Medical Center in Aurora, CO.

Position Emphasis:

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
  • Primary responsibility for the management of children and adolescents with a variety of acute and chronic neurological conditions including epilepsy, recurrent headaches, and tics, and other movement disorders in outpatient/inpatient setting. Responsibilities can include:
  • Inpatient evaluation and management of children and adolescents with acute and chronic neurological diseases;
  • On-going follow-up care both in clinic and by phone, for neurology patients;
  • Participation and contribution to the training, mentorship and education of residents, fellows and APP's;
  • Contribute to the program development, including involvement in ongoing QI projects.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring rate (or budgeted rate) for this position has been established at:
  • Assistant Professor: $190,000
  • Associate Professor: $210,600

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

Assistant Professor
  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Degree;
  • Board Certified or Eligible in American Academy of Psychiatry and Neurology, with Special Qualification in Child Neurology;
  • Completion of residency training in Child Neurology;
  • 0-6 years of clinical experience, interest in pursuing academic promotion.

Associate Professor
  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Degree;
  • Board Certified or Eligible in American Academy of Psychiatry and Neurology, with Special Qualification in Child Neurology;
  • 6 or more years of clinical experience;
  • Prior experience with program development, teaching or research;
  • Examples of scholarship.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong communication skills; both written and orally;
  • Broad knowledge and clinical skills in pediatric neurology;
  • Commitment to Patient Safety, Quality Care, Communication, and Customer Service.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous work experience in a Child Neurology practice: Private or Academic;
  • Previous experience performing work in quality improvement projects in Child Neurology;
  • Previous teaching experience.
