The University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus is a comprehensive urban research university serving more than 28,000 students in metropolitan Denver and online. We award nearly 4,000 degrees each year, including more graduate and professional degrees than any other Colorado public institution. With our solid academic reputation, award-winning faculty and renowned researchers, we offer 119 highly rated degree programs through 13 schools and colleges. The University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus is well known for its distinctive and highly productive research programs, its world-class health facilities at the Anschutz Medical Campus and its well-established partnerships in business, industry and government. These campuses currently have over $400 million in research awards each year. In addition to the wide array of health-related programs and facilities offered at our Anschutz Medical Campus, a significant number of undergraduate and graduate degree programs are taught at our comprehensive campus in the heart of downtown Denver. Denver is one of America's most vibrant urban centers and the downtown campus, located just steps from the Denver Center for Performing Arts and the LoDo District, affords our students, faculty and staff access to a broad array of academic, professional, community, recreational and cultural outlets.
Nature of Work:
The University of Colorado, Department of Medicine, Division of Biomedical Informatics and Personalized Medicine (BIPM) has an opening for a Post-Doctoral Fellow in Genetic Epidemiology and Computational Human Genetics in the laboratories of Sridharan Raghavan, MD, PhD and Christopher R. Gignoux, PhD at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado. The Raghavan Lab is focused on precision medicine broadly writ- understanding how population heterogeneity impacts disease risk and response to clinical interventions with a focus on diabetes, diabetes complications, obesity, and cardiovascular disease. The Gignoux Lab is interested in opportunities to understand the genome architecture of complex traits, particularly as these apply to multi-ethnic biobanks and in diverse and understudied population settings. This Post-Doctoral Fellow position will bridge interests of the two Labs including the opportunity for diverse analytic methods: genome-wide association studies of clinical traits using biobank data in diverse populations, studies of how polygenic risk scores contribute to disease risk and modify clinical intervention effects, rare variant and somatic variant association analyses, and high-dimensional phenome-wide association studies. The overall goals of the Post-Doctoral Fellow position are to evaluate how genetic information might be translated to common chronic disease care and to understand better the architecture of complex traits across diverse populations.
Examples of Work Performed:
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
Salary and Benefits:
Current NIH salary levels for 0-3 years of experience: $53,760 - $56,712.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
