Overall Description of Responsibility or Nature of Work
This position reports directly to the Assistant Professor, Nicholas Dwork in the Section of Informatics and Data Science and is responsible for medical imaging and radiation therapy algorithm and software development.
Areas of Responsibility / Scope of Research
The goal of the lab is to create self-contained products for clinicians that function with an extremely high confidence of success in a pleasingly small amount of time. The lab is focused on robust engineering based on applied mathematics with theoretical guarantees. To this end, we exploit known physics, consistent data phenomenology, and specific computer architecture (e.g. levels and amount of cache).
The areas of research are fast medical image reconstruction, magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and adaptive radiation treatment planning. As a postdoctoral fellow/trainee, you will be responsible for developing novel technologies to make medical image reconstruction faster, more robust, and clinically applicable. You may be responsible for innovations in radiation treatment planning to reduce the human labor required and take advantage of this efficiency to automate adaptive radiation treatments. Additionally, you will be responsible for aiding in the writing and submission of grant applications.

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $53,760- $65,292

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a PhD in Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, or a related discipline
- Experience with medical imaging and/or radiation treatment planning algorithm development
- Proven ability to work independently within a research lab
Conditions of Employment:
- Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
- Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with linear algebra, convex optimization, and/or non-convex optimization
- Computer programming, with some experience in C
- Data oriented design
- GPU programming, preferably in Metal
