Nature of Work
This Continuous Improvement Biomanufacturing Project Manager (CIPM) will be responsible for leading project teams to improve quality, eliminate waste, reduce lead-times, reduce cost, and provide value to the customers in alignment with GBF's business and quality goals. This position will also manage smaller client projects and assist in managing portion of larger projects, as requested.
As a member of the Project Management and Supply Chain Team, this full-time, University Staff (non-classified) position will lead continuous improvement efforts to achieve specific project objectives related to improving quality, efficiencies, costs, or service, through the management of project scope, schedule, milestones, costs, resources, quality, risk, stakeholders, and establishing process monitoring practices. The CIPM will also be responsible for smaller client projects (such as Stability program, limited PD projects, etc.) that includes facilitating client relations, project schedules, and communication between client, team members, management, and other stakeholders. The Project Manager leads efforts in tracking costs and progress against project milestones. The Project Manager will build and maintain strong, impactful relationships, work cross-functionally and collaboratively with technical, quality, and business organizations to effectively integrate processes, knowledge, tools, and personnel. The Project Manager must guide, influence, and collaborate using sound Lean and leadership skills.

- Identifies improvement opportunities by analyzing current processes using metrics to gain efficiencies. Leads rapid improvement events in collaboration with departmental and cross-functional teams to assist project leaders across the enterprise with achieving and sustaining successful process improvements in a rapidly evolving manufacturing environment. Demonstrates project management and leadership skills and ability to train and facilitate multi-function teams in problem-solving, process improvement, and development of control plans. Works in collaboration with leadership to ensure Lean Thinking and continuous improvement are integrated into the organizational culture. Trains leaders and associates on Lean, DMAID, PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Adjust), and other continuous improvement tools that will support the organizational goals of empowered associates incorporating the use of process improvement tools into their daily work. Works closely with Management to ensure projects are appropriately resourced. Guides team members in working together to identify and focus on essential project tasks and deliverables. Manages the Statement of Work (SOW) creation and approval process. Works closely with management to ensure projects are appropriately resourced. Works to balance competing constraints on the projects with available resources. Manages project elements and meetings, including but not limited to, scope, schedule, cost, resources, action items, and risks. Ensures timely client invoicing and communication. Manages identification, approval, and tracking of Process Change Orders (PCO). Leads team in prioritization of tasks and technical and logistical problem-solving issues affecting schedule, cost, and quality. Initiates and maintains client information in the MRP (Material Requirement Planning) system, RFP (request for proposal), and SOW (statement of work) tools. Prepares status reports to top management and assures projects are on schedule to meet the target dates. Identifies and evaluates critical path activities needed by the product, analyzes contingencies and comes up with alternatives to overcome them, providing guidance and mentorship to team members, and ensures that the project team is working efficiently according to project objectives, goals, specifications, deliverables, and timelines

- A bachelor's degree in physical or natural sciences, business, project management, industrial engineering, or a directly related field from an accredited institution Minimum of 3 years of professional-level experience in project management and/or experience in process optimization, Lean implementations, and Six Sigma tools Experience in Biomanufacturing, Pharmaceuticals, Device manufacturing, or related regulated manufacturing industry.

- CAPM or PMP Experience working in an academic institution or Contract Manufacturing Organization Experience providing mentorship and training

- Exceptional knowledge of project management processes, skills, and tools. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills required, as well as, Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, and other lean tools. Exceptional multi-tasking and organizational skills, as well as the ability to make complex decisions in a fast-paced environment. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Self-motivated and able to work in a team environment. Excellent knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Project) and Smartsheets. Knowledge of and the ability to work with the MRP System (Microsoft Dynamics/Great Plains). Knowledge of and the ability to work with web meeting tools.
